Dates in the Quran

These dates in the Quran are mentioned many times. This is why they are a symbol associated with Islam and Muslims.

Moreover, during Ramadan, they are an essential food. That makes sense, as eating them is part of our Prophet’s Sunnah! Let’s explore dates in the Quran, not forgetting the Sunnah!

Dates in the Quran and Sunnah

The date palm is mentioned more often than any other fruit-bearing plant in the Quran. Indeed, it is one of the blessings placed on earth for us to benefit from.

This is why it is no coincidence that Allah told Maryam to shake the palm tree beneath which she gave birth to Issa (‘alayhi salam), so she could have some dates to eat.

Allah, the Most High, says about dates in the Quran: “Shake the trunk of the palm tree toward you; it will drop fresh, ripe dates upon you.” (Surah Maryam, verse 25)

Dates in the Quran: their place in the Islamic diet

As you know, dates hold an important place in the Islamic diet. That is hardly surprising when we consider the place of dates in the Quran.
